    NEW YORK, May 22--WebMethods is expected to announce plans Monday to acquire Active Software in a stock deal valued at $1.3 billion, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing people familiar with the matter. The deal would unite the two fastest-growing players in the enterprise-software market. The boards of webMethods of Fairfax, Va., and Active Software, of Santa Clara, Calif., both approved the transaction over the weekend, according to the paper.

    FRAMINGHAM, May 19--Natural MicroSystems, the technology leader enabling the world's top networking and communication equipment suppliers to build New Network infrastructure and solutions, announced a definitive agreement to acquire privately held InnoMediaLogic, a provider of enabling technology used in Voice over Digital Subscriber Line (VoDSL) gateways and other New Network solutions. Under the terms of the agreement, Natural MicroSystems will issue stock and pay cash totaling $155 million of total consideration for all outstanding shares of InnoMediaLogic.

    SANTA CLARA, May 19--Netergy Networks, a leading provider of Internet protocol (IP) telephony solutions, announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire UForce, a private company based in Montreal, Canada, that provides a comprehensive Java platform that can be customized to respond to the evolving needs of service providers. Netergy Networks and UForce have been working closely together in recent months to integrate and jointly market their IP telephony products. Under the terms of the agreement, Netergy Networks will exchange approximately 3.6 million shares of Netergy Networks common stock for all outstanding shares of UForce.

    DALLAS, May 19--NetVoice Technologies, an emerging player in the VoIP industry, is pleased to announce the acquisition of Synetric, a networking convergence company dedicated to the integration of voice and data networks. NetVoice will benefit from the merger by utilizing Synetric as the professional services arm of the company to deploy the implementation of converged voice and data, unified messaging, IP telephones, IP video and other value added products and services into the enterprise market.
