Hi,

we've now replaced the faulty MySQL-Max 3.23.53 binaries with version
3.23.53a on our downloads section at
http://www.mysql.com/downloads/index.html - the mirror sites should catch
up on these changes soon as well. Please update, if you experienced problems
with the initial 3.23.53 binaries.

For a list of changes between MySQL 3.23.52 and 3.23.53, please see the
respective NEWS section in our manual:

http://www.mysql.com/doc/en/News-3.23.53.html

These MySQL 3.23.53a binary packages fix the following glitches in the
initial 3.23.53 release:

o The -Max packages now actually include InnoDB (But not BerkeleyDB! -
we are working with Sleepycat to resolve the problems we experienced
for the next release. However, DBD is of course still part of the source
tree.)
o The Intel Linux binaries (normal and Max) have now been built against
a glibc with static-nss enabled again. This should resolve the problem
with mysqld failing to change to another user ID as well as the notorious
load issue that has been plagueing previous releases. We have tested this
binary on different Linux distributions and were not able to reproduce
these problems anymore. Please contact me directly, if you still observe
any abnormal behaviour on Linux with this binary.

Please note, that the Windows binaries were not affected by this.

The 3.23.53 source archives are still identical, too - 3.23.53a has been built out of the same source tree, just with different compile options.

Sorry again for the confusion and any inconvenience this may have caused you.

Bye,

LenZ
